Talking with Melissa is happenning every day, and is very good.

I'm exercising about 3-4 times a week. I need to get up to 4-5 times a week.

I went to the YMCA during lunch and exercised for about 30 minutes on a stationary bike. Hard work. I also stopped on the way and bought shoes, socks, and underwear.
Melissa and I talked in the morning. Our talks are becoming less dramatic.

ideas for daily interaction with my children
I need to have positive daily interactions with my children. I'd like it to be one-on-one. My first thought was 30 minutes per child, but that's two hours total, plus any time I get to spend with Melissa. It doesn't seem likely. 15 minutes might work though.

    Ideas for interacting with Finn:
    1. Read a book, particularly comic books. Maybe I should subscribe to Amazing Spiderman, in the mail? I have X-men and Spiderman collections on the computer. I probably just need to dive in to this, and let him come and be part of it, rather than ask him to come to do it. Using the computer here might prove difficult. Would prefer to have it be analog.

    2. Play a game. He likes Sorry Sliders. One-on-one I think he would like other games as well, like TransEuropa (with some help), Chicken Cha-cha-cha, gulo gulo, match of the penguins, and maybe solitare RftG? I would help him play against the easy-level robot.

    3. Something physical: walking, tag outside, gardening(?), sword fighting. Could Wii fit in here?

    4. Play computer games together, or Wii. Again, using the computer will be difficult. Wii seems like a good choice.

    5. Projects. Building with blocks, maybe building toy models?

I will brainstorm ideas for interacting with Tad, Meira, and Laily later.

Scripture Study: 1 Nephi 11-13, and lesson prep for sunday school lesson 5 (D&C 6, 9, 11, and a bunch of other stuff)
Melissa and I really didn't talk much today. Finnian is really in high needs mode, and it is draining for both of us.

A very nice discussion with M. I feel closer to her than I have in a long time. We talked and argued and cried, but ended up understanding and loving one another.

    May 12 and May 13
    For Monday, May 12:
Laily has had chicken pox since last Thursday. She has been miserable, tired, and itchy, especially Friday and Saturday. Sunday she perked right up, and by Monday she was her cheery self! And today she was running around the house, happy as can be. I'm glad to have my Laily back. We prayed for her speedy recovery and for her comfort, and it came. Chicken pox typically develops for four days, and then the pox go away for four days, so the whole thing can take up to two weeks. Laily's has been short, and I am very grateful.

    For Tuesday, May 13:
Meira said the most beautiful prayers at breakfast and dinner today. She thanked Heavenly Father for my hard work so that Melissa could stay home and teach her and her sister and brothers. She was sweet and sincere, and even prayed for our extended family and for the Harbor's, a struggling family at church. Her prayer was a beautiful blessing in the day.

An answer to prayer -- preparing Sunday School lesson
Yesterday, I woke up early to prepare the Sunday School lesson. I was teaching from Mosiah 7-11. I had read through the text three or four times over the course of the week, and found nothing noteworthy or exemplary that I wanted to teach about. I prayed before preparing, and also before bedtime the previous night, that I would be able to prepare a good lesson. In the sixty minutes I spent preparing the lesson, I compiled 4 pages of notes for discussion. The ideas flowed with abundance. My prayer was answered. The lesson was well received, and the spirit was present.
